1. Uswetakeiyawa Beach - The Natural Swimming Pool
Uswetakeiyawa is one of my favorite beach destinations near Colombo, located just a short distance from Wattala town. What makes it special is the stunning natural swimming pool formed by large rocks, which create a serene and safe space to relax. There's another beach nearby with rocky formations within the pool, adding to the charm. In the evening, the view is magical, with Colombo's skyline glowing in the distance.
2. Wellawatta Beach
Wellawatta Beach is another peaceful escape, offering benches to sit and enjoy the surroundings. What I love most is watching the trains pass by, creating a unique contrast between the peaceful beach and the hustle of the city.

Crow Island Beach Park is one of my favorite parks in Colombo. In the evenings, the park feels like a small festival, with families gathering, children playing, and the beach nearby. There are grassy areas to sit, tables with chairs facing the beach, and a small playground for kids. I always enjoy grabbing a snack from the small shops, sitting back, and chatting with friends while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere.
4.Viharamahadevi Park
Viharamahadevi Park is one of Colombo’s most popular spots, especially on weekends. The park spans a large area with various seating options, playgrounds, cycling and jogging paths, and even ponds where you can enjoy a boat ride. There's also a fish house you can visit for just 20 LKR.
Tip: The Colombo Public Library and Art Gallery are located nearby. Just ask a security officer in the park for directions if you're unsure.
5. Thewatte Church
For a more serene and spiritual experience, I recommend visiting the Thewatta church(Basilica of Our Lady of Lanka) in Ragama. Though the church can get crowded with visitors, it remains a peaceful retreat located near a rubber estate. It's an excellent place for quiet reflection.
